Glee : Junk

Noticed something wrong with the title? Nope, there's nothing wrong. This week's Glee was absolute junk.

Firstly, what the hell is wrong with the writers? It's like they switched the earlier ones with a group of school kids. May I point out that the storyline doesn't flow, heck, it doesn't even make sense anymore. And what made the characters lovable in the beginning are all gone. In fact, they've all turned into whiny, cringe-inducing teens. Yes, even Mr Schu, with that disgusting seduction of Sue. I felt like puking watching it.

The main story that doesn't make sense; Jesse. Last week (or was it the week before?), we found out that the coach of Vocal Adrenaline told him to get close to Rachel so that he can play a recording of Les Miserables' 'I Dreamed A Dream' for her. Well, not really, she wanted him to tell Rachel that she was her real mum. And so he did. And they met. And realised they didn't fit into each others' lives very well. And separated. That made sense. What didn't came this week.

All of a sudden, Jesse's back with Vocal Adrenaline. All the "I kinda like her" stuff with Rachel are now gone. So his role was to break her heart and destroy the Glee club. Or was it to show her who her real mother is? Which is it? I'm getting really confused. Did Shelby tell Jesse to seduce Rachel, tell her who her mother is, then break her heart, and an egg on her forehead for good measure? What kind of mother does that? The whole thing is a mess, and absolutely nonsensical.

Besides that, another thing is the addition of 'High-School-Musical-esque' scenes into Glee, which happened for the second time this week. Suddenly, everyone in Terri's store broke into song after being prompted by Finn and Puck (last time, it was Artie and the whole supermarket). I used to disagree with those who say that Glee is as bad as HSM, but now I see how dumb I am. How could I be so blind all along?

Anyway, a breakdown of what's going to happen next week in the finale. I got some of it from spoilers and worked out the rest myself.

Sue somehow works her way into becoming a judge for Regionals. The Glee clubbers are shocked , and disappointed, and angry, but they are convinced to move on, and show Sue that they can rock the house (just like what happened at Sectionals). And they perform. Suddenly, Quinn yells, "My water broke!" and the whole thing descends into chaos as their number is interrupted. Both Finn and Puck rush to her, each grabbing one of her hands, while the rest run around like headless chickens. Someone will call the ambulance, but it won't come in time, and Mercedes will help Quinn give birth, right there on stage. And even though their performance was a disaster, somehow they'll win Regionals (originality, maybe?). And thwart Sue. And thwart Vocal Adrenaline. Ending scene, Rachel walking away with the rest of the group when Jesse calls out to her. She ignores him, but he grabs her arm, apologizes for the egging, and they kiss. End of season 1.

If it truly ends this way, I swear that I'll not watch Season 2, or any season after that anymore. It's too plain ridiculous. But some scenes are real, like the one of Quinn giving birth. So we'll just have to wait and see. This is the first time I'm not at all eager to see a show's season finale, and not really care how it ends. Oh, what happened to the good old Glee?

  2. It's getting weirder as the weeks go by. This episode seems particularly unnecessary, and only serves to confuse viewers even more. It doesn't even fit in with the previous episode...
