New Release : 'Charleston, SC 1966' - Darius Rucker
From the press release:
Capitol Records Nashville’s Darius Rucker celebrates the release of his highly anticipated 13-track sophomore country record, Charleston, SC 1966, today. The record contains the hit single, “Come Back Song,” which Rucker performed on ABC’s Good Morning America on Monday, October 11; additionally, fans that purchase the album on iTunes receive two bonus tracks from Rucker’s CMT Invitation Only performance—“Let Her Cry” and “Family Tradition.”
“It made sense to name the album Charleston, SC 1966 not only because it’s home but as a tribute to Radney Foster, who helped me realize I could sing country music,” says Rucker.
Rucker’s efforts have been met with praise from the press. “Charleston, SC 1966 proves that Rucker's transformation from '90s has-been to 21st-century country luminary is both impressive and inarguably complete. If anything, he probably should have made the switch sooner,” says The Denver Post’s John Wenzel. “Charleston surpasses its predecessor on the strength of more vibrant and charming tunes,” raves The Boston Globe’s Sarah Rodman, and USA Today’s Brian Mansfield notes, “Rucker has made a fine-sounding country album, full of singable choruses, bittersweet fiddle and steel, and guitars with bottomless twang.”
