Are the Rascal Flatts Unshockable?

After watching the latest episode of CSI featuring my favourite band Rascal Flatts, I had to admit, disappointment was the main emotion running through my veins. Not happiness, not satisfaction, not eagerness, but just plain disappointment. Wanna know why?

Well, it looks like the Flatts are just a promotional part of the episode. In the beginning, Jay gets shocked by his guitar. He was sent to the hospital and had apparently lost his memory, hating country music for absolutely no reason at all. The CSI team interview the band and the crew, learn that they had been fighting (but we are never told why) and asks for Jay's guitar. They got it, but it was fake, and later found the real thing in a crazed fan's home, who picked it from a dumpster after the concert. After investigating, they found the cause, the criminal (which was so damn clear from the beginning) and arrested him. Apparently he wanted to shock Jay so that he could take his place during the concert.

Well, duh! The whole thing's kinda lame, don't you think? And the whole thing only took a few minutes of the entire episode. The rest was about an ex-CIA guy who was murdered by his son. But back to the Flatts. Why let them appear in the show and give them such a flimsy storyline? They might as well not appear at all. There was no suspense, no pain, no confusion, nothing. And they didn't even get to perform their song, Unstoppable to the end. First it was interrupted by Jay getting shocked, then by the credits at the end. WTH!

Hopefully the next time Rascal Flatts makes an appearance on a television show, it will be a more substantial one. Fans only got a few minutes of them during the entire episode, and they're not even the main storyline. Can't they be the centre of a crime, and the murderer (yes, it would be more interesting if one of them died) commit the crime for a more complicated reason, other than a few seconds in the spotlight? This episode was aptly titled Unshockable because no one with a brain would be shocked by the revelation of who the criminal was at the end.

I've never watched CSI before and after this one, I doubt I'll start anytime soon. This episode only caught my attention because my favourite band was on it. Until Rascal Flatts appears on television again, I'll keep my fingers crossed for them to play a more substantial role.
