24 : Bye Dana. No Silent Clock For You...

Is this the week of great TV shows or what? First comes Breaking Bad with such an explosive ending I was stunned for a while, and now 24, which ended the hour with the death of Dana Walsh, one of the main baddies this season. As Jack holds her at gunpoint, Dana begs for her life by asking Jack to tell her what she could do. "Nothing," Jack answers, the pain evident in his face, before shooting her not once, but twice. As she lies dead in the abandoned building, Jack walks out with the evidence. Now is that great or what?

Earlier, Jack and Cole broke into Logan's torture chamber and liberated Dana. Jack started by asking nicely where the evidence was, but when she refused to comply, he simply pointed a gun in her face and threatened to pull the trigger. Although Jack later stated that he only wanted her to believe that, both he and Dana knows that he's lying. Only Cole continues to try to convince himself that Jack would not kill her.

Fearing for her life, Dana leads Jack and Cole to a bank where she kept a safe deposit box allegedly containing the evidence. After arrving at the bank, Jack stayed outside while Cole and Dana went in. When the box was brught out, Cole opened it, only for a mine to blow up in his face. He faints (seriously wonder why) and Dana grabs the gun with the silencer, a passport, and a memory card before caressing Cole's cheek softly. It is apparent that she did love him, but decides that her loyalties lie with the Russians. To put Jack off her scent, Dana calls the police, informing them about Jack so that they will arrest him while she escapes.

Meanwhile, the press conference starts, with the dumb president standing behind Dalia, trying to keep a straight face while she is praised for her 'integrity'. Fuck that. Immediately after that, she gets a call from Logan and follows exactly what he tells her to do, which is put his assistant in charge of Jack's capture and murder. How much more dumb can she get? Honestly, Allison was painted as a pretty sensible woman in season 7, why make her such a dumbass now?

With his plan in motion, Logan meets with the Russians and asks them to take out Jack, with the help of his man inside CTU. Looks like Jack is facing opposition both from his own country and that of his enemies. Poor guy. I definitely understand why Dana thinks that Jack will hunt down the perpetrators one by one and execute them. Based on what is happening, I don't really blame him.

Back at the bank, Jack is arrested, but escapes by grabbing a cop and shooting another in the foot. I'm really surprised the first cop fell down after Jack just grabebed him and pointed a gun in his face. I mean, how soft are you? You're a cop, man, and he didn't even shoot you! So Jack chases after Dana, catches up with her in an abandoned building and holds her at gunpoint while she gives him the evidence. Then he shoots her. bye bye Dana. Nice knowing you.

Up until now, I'm still not sure how this season will end. With only 4 episodes left, is there enough time for Jack to uncover all the perpetrators behind the assasination of President Hassan and Renee? I mean, these guys are Russian diplomats who live in Russia, how's he going to get to them in time? even the flight there would take up an entire season. But I doubt Jack is interested in justice anymore. Maybe his own though. He proved that by killing Dana, although maybe that was to stop her from warning the Russians. But what happens now?
