Jack goes on a murderous rampage, killing every single person who had something to do with Renee's death. Chloe solicits Cole's help to find Jack, but Cole is adamant that he will kil Jack if he retaliates. President Taylor arrests Meredith and confiscates her evidence. However, Meredith had already told Kayla Hassan the truth about her father's death.
After ripping out the Russian sniper's bowels, Jack sends Meredith off with the evidence, while he asks his friend to locate President Logan. Then, he lies in wait for Logan's entourage in a tunnel. Shooting at the tyres of all the cars in the tunnel, Jack effectively prevents Logan from escaping the tunnel. Using tear gas, he smokes Logan out of the car and whisks him away down a tunnel.
Logan's expression when he saw Jack was priceless. Look at the fear in his eyes, because he knows what Jack will do to him if he is captured. Gregory Itzin does a very impressive job playing Logan, someone who is manipulative but cowardly, and will do anything if it benefits him. During all the moments he manipulates the president to do his bidding, Itzin remains cool and collected, but when he meets Jack Bauer, his calmness is gone, replaced by a deep terror. I wouldn't be surprised if he got nominated for an Emmy this year.
Logan probably proves to be the easiest villain Jack has ever interrogated. But he's a crafty one, too. When faced with the very real prospect of death, in the form of Jack pressing a gun into his neck, Logan exposes the Russian delegate, Mikael Novakovich as the man behind the attacks. However, Logan fails to inform Jack of the real mastermind behind everything, Russian president Suvarov. With CTU closing in, Jack leaves him unconscious and sets off to hunt down Novakovich.
Meanwhile, Chloe releases Cole from custody, sending him off to look for Jack's contact. She and Arlo had succesfully located the man who was helping Jack, but they needed someone to go look for him. So Chloe takes the first person she could think of; Cole. I was surprised she didn't call Morris, but maybe he's babysitting their daughter. Coel reminds Chloe that Jack is no longer who he was before, and that if he tries to fight back, Cole would gladly kill him. I'm surprised that Cole thinks it would be so easy to kill Jack. And the guy's fortress doesn't look easily penetrable either. Wonder how Cole will go about it.
After separating from Jack, Meredith calls he editor and tells him about the evidence, but befor ehe could do anything, President Taylor already ordered FBI units to lock down their office and arrest Meredith. He tells her to escape while she can and protect the evidence, but when she stops by a hotel to contact President Hassan (Dalia), she is arrested and her evidence confiscated by the FBI. Well, hopefully not. I seriously hope she has the common sense to not keep it on her, or at least make copies and stash them somewhere else. Anyway, she got Kayla instead, who freaks when she found out who was calling, but was dumbstruck when informed of the Russians' involvement in the murder of her father. If her mother listens to her, President Taylor is going to be in big trouble. And serves her right.
Arriving at the Russians' place, Jack storms it, killing everyone in his way, and finally stabbing Novakovich with a poker. However, he got wounded when one of their henchmen stabbed him with a knife. Leaving only one man alive (if Jack wanted him dead, he would be dead already), Jack heads out again, and Logan calls Novakovich, but is told that he's already dead. Logan then calls the Russian president, telling him about he murders and assuring him that Jack has no idea that he was behind the entire thing. However, Logan did not notice that Jack bugged him, and heard the entire conversation between him and Suvarov. Look out, Russian president, Jack's coming after you, with a stab wound in his stomach. Very very dangerous.
Looks like we're finally approaching the end of 24! With the 2-hour season finale next week, we'll find out what happens to Jack as he arrives at the final step of his quest for revenge, meeting the mastermind behind it all. Will he kill the President? I sincerely hope so. Will he die? I think so too, after what happpened before, but there's still the movie, so there's always a possibility that Jack survives. But even if he does, what will happen to him? He's now a fugitive and on the run from law enforcement agencies all over the world. Where can he go?
One more thing; Jack seems to have forgotten all about his family. Why's he suddenly so intent on taking revenge for Renee's death that he is sacrificng the safety of his family? If he goes on like this, I'm sure the Russians will retaliate, this time against Kim and his granddaughter. Isn't Jack afraid of that happening? Or doesn't he care anymore? Jack definitely will never be able to see his family again, at the rate he's going, but will they have to pay the ultimate price for his revenge?
What a stupid son-of-a-bitch! And I'm talking about Jack Bauer. How can anyone cheer over this murderous nut case?
