Renee’s dead! Logan’s back! Dahlia’s president! Chloe’s head of CTU! Wow, such shocking developments!
In the latest episode, we witness the aftermath of President Hassan’s assassination. The terrorist responsible for murdering him was injured but alive. However, he was injected with a lethal toxin by a member of the Russian mob, so he died anyway. Apparently, the Russians would do anything to prevent the peace agreement. And now they’re after Jack and Renee, who recognised the man responsible. Renee was shot and Jack rushed her to the hospital, but she didn’t make it. Yeah, I’m sure, because the clock was silent.
At the White House, President Taylor attempts to salvage her peace agreement by asking Dahlia Hassan to take over her husband’s place as President of the IRK. Surprisingly, she agreed and the Russian delegate wasn’t too happy about it, threatening to pull out of the agreement. Then Logan arrives, looking much younger and botoxed, with a plan to help bring the Russians back to the table. He definitely has a personal agenda, but it isn’t revealed yet.
Back at CTU, Hastings was relieved of his command of CTU and replaced by Chloe O’Brien. Hell yes! Now CTU can finally stop screwing things up because they don’t listen to Jack or Renee.
This episode seems to be all about women taking charge, doesn’t it? First Taylor, then Dahlia and now Chloe. The producers are really promoting women’s rights, aren’t they? Not that I’m against it, but all at once? Seems a little weird, don’t you think?
However, this episode is what I consider redemption after the blasphemy of the first half of the season. People are actually dying instead of surviving miraculously from assassination attempts. Now that Renee is gone, Jack will be up for revenge. And that would be great to watch!
